  • Use the number keys to enter 0241 or 164 while holding down the Alt key for small enye. To type the big enye (Ñ), type either 0209 or 165.
    • ñ: Hold down the ALT key and press 164 (alternative: ALT + 0241)
    • Ñ: Hold down the ALT key and press 165 (alternative: ALT + 0209)

(If you don’t have a Num Lock key, you’ll need to press Fn too while pressing ALT and the shortcut numbers)

Through the Character Map:

If the above- mentioned keyboard keys don’t work, your keyboard doesn’t have a numeric keypad, you don’t want to recall the preceding keyboard shortcuts, or your number pad is damaged or absent, you can simply enter the “Ñ” or “ñ” sign by using Windows 10’s Character Map feature. Follow up to accomplish this.

  • Select the Windows icon from the menu by clicking it or press the “Windows” icon from the keyboard.
  • Based on your version of Windows, the next stage may vary.

  • Pick up the Insert option, then Sign under Symbols, followed by More Symbols option. Click Insert after selecting the character ñ/Ñ.

Insert > Symbol under Symbol > More Symbols > Insert ñ/Ñ

  • Choose the Ñ/ñ symbol (find the symbol composed of the letter n with a tilde). Assure to choose the Latin-1 Supplement subject to find the sign quickly. The enye sign will be added to your Word page after you click Insert.
  • After initial use, the sign will show up after selecting Insert > Symbol, making it simpler to insert it later.
  • Or use these:
    • Ñ: Type N0303 and press Alt + X
      • Alternative: press Ctrl + Shift + ~, and then hold Shift and press “N”
    • ñ: Type n0303 and press Alt + X
      • Alternative: press Ctrl + Shift + ~, and then press “n”

The same procedure is followed for Microsoft Office: Excel, and PowerPoint.

MS Word on Apple Mac:

It’s not too hard for Mac, iMac, Macbook Air, and Macbook Pro users to type these symbols.

On a Mac, press the “N” key while pressing the option key, then press the “N” key once more without pressing the option key to type the small letter “Ñ”:

  • Option + N, N

To enter the uppercase character, hit the “N” key while holding down the option key, followed by the “N” key while holding down the Shift key:
